New vitamin and mineral supplement for the entire family A balanced diet is easy with new Multidax Just in time for the damp autumn weather and the colds that come with it, a new vitamin and mineral tablet called Multidax is being launched that is suitable for the entire family (adults and children from 12 years of age). Multidax provides the daily requirement of 11 vitamins and 6 minerals. Multidax tablets can be chewed, sucked or swallowed whole – and suit the whole family.

For families trying to fit the pieces of life’s puzzle together, getting all members of the family to eat a healthy, nutritional and balanced diet everyday is a challenge.

With new Multidax, it’s easy to get all the important vitamins and minerals you need.  One tablet contains the daily requirements of 11 vitamins and 6 minerals. Since people of different ages have different preferences, the new Multidax tablet be chewed, sucked or swallowed whole. It can also be crushed and added to a smoothie, for example. Multiplex was developed in collaboration with nutrition experts.

“Most of all what people are looking for today is simplicity. People don’t always have the time or money to take several different types of dietary supplements or purchase different supplements for different members of the family. At the same time, more and more people are become interested in nutrition and health and want to be sure that they are getting the right amount of vitamins and minerals every day. That’s why we have developed a tablet that makes it easy for all members of the family to get their daily requirements of vitamins and minerals,” said Lisa Beijergård, nutritionist at R&D Health Care, Cederroth International.
Multidax contains, among other things, a full daily requirement of vitamin D in the form of D3, the type of vitamin D that is utilized best by the body. A recent study carried out in the U.S. demonstrated that “Vitamin D is among the most important vitamins.”* The main source of vitamin D is sunlight, something that people living in Sweden get too little of for large parts of the year.

Multidax also contains the daily requirements of the mineral zinc, which is important for the immune defence. Below is a list of all the vitamins and minerals that Multiplex contains.

Multiplex Multidax is sold in supermarkets and grocery stores. One package contains 100 tablets and the recommended price per package is SEK 79.

Fast facts about the vitamins and minerals found in Multidax

Vitamin A
Vitamin A is important for building a sound immune system. A deficiency of vitamin A can lower the immune defence. The vitamin is also important for healthy sight, skin and mucus membranes. Natural sources of vitamin A are liver and leafy greens.

Vitamin D
Vitamin D is important for the immune defence and for the body’s absorption of calcium and phosphorous. It is particularly important for growing children. A deficiency in vitamin D can result in a softening of the bones in adults. Vitamin D also regulates the balance of calcium in the skeleton and teeth. The vitamin is primarily found in fish and is produced by the skin during exposure to sunlight.

Vitamin E
Vegetable oils, margarine, eggs and nuts are natural sources of Vitamin E. The vitamin is an antioxidant that protects the body’s fatty acids from breaking down in the tissues.

Vitamin C
Citrus fruit, strawberries, and rosehips are natural sources of vitamin C and are necessary for the production of collagen and protection of the cells against free radicals.

Thiamine (B1)
Thiamine is found primarily in bread, flour, grains, pork, and legumes and is required by the body for carbohydrate metabolism, muscle and nerve functions and energy production. A deficiency in thiamine can cause fatigue and concentration difficulties.

Riboflavin (B2)
Riboflavin plays a key role in the metabolism of fat, carbohydrates and proteins. A deficiency in riboflavin can cause changes in the mucus membranes.  Dairy products, meat, eggs and fish are all natural sources of the vitamin.

Niacin
Meat, fish, bread, grains, vegetables and fruit are all natural sources of Niacin. A deficiency in this vitamin can cause irritability, insomnia or poor appetite. The vitamin also plays an important role in the cells’ metabolism of fat and carbohydrates and for energy production.

Vitamin B6
Irritability can also be caused by a deficiency in B6. The vitamin plays an important role in protein and carbohydrate metabolism and is primarily found in chicken, bananas, meat and potatoes.

Folic acid
Folic acid plays an important role in cell metabolism and in building new red blood cells. Since the vitamin is also important for optimal foetus development and women who are either pregnant or are planning on becoming pregnant are recommended to take extra folic acid. Natural sources of folic acid are found in liver, leafy greens, fruit and vegetables.

Vitamin B12
Like folic acid, vitamin B12 plays a key role in cell metabolism and in building new red blood cells. It is also important for nerve system functions. Vitamin B12 is found primarily in shellfish, meat, fish, dairy products and chicken.

Pantothenic acid
Pantothenic acid is important for the metabolism of carbohydrates and fat. It is found in animal-based foodstuffs, whole wheat and legumes.

Zinc
Many of the body’s enzymes are dependent on zinc to perform their roles, for example immune defence. The mineral is found in meat, cheese, nuts, peas, wheat germ and mussels.

Copper
Many of the body’s enzymes need copper to perform their roles, for example oxygen metabolism and protection of the cells from free radicals. Copper is found in liver, shellfish, peas, nuts and almonds.

Iodine
Iodine is used by the enzymes that steer metabolism. Saltwater fish, shellfish and iodine-enriched salt are natural sources of the mineral.

Magnesium
Magnesium is important for carbohydrate and fat metabolism and for protecting the cells against free radicals. Magnesium is found in nuts, rice, wheat germ, oats and blueberries.

Chrome
Chrome helps the body regulate blood sugar. Chrome is found in whole wheat products, shellfish and meat.

Selenium
Selenium provides the body protection from heavy metals and is important for the immune defence and protecting the cells from free radicals. The mineral is found in fish, shellfish, liver, eggs and nuts.
